Winterkist Hoppy Time

Well friends, it's FINALLY here, the Winterkist blog hop!

Gnomas in the Garden

Monica Solorio-Snow aka The Happy Zombie has done it again. She's designed another ultra-cute, fun holiday fabric line for Lecien USA, this one is called Winterkist and it's being released THIS MONTH!!  I have been waiting months for this very non-traditional holiday fabric to be released to the world. You all know Monica, right? Of course you do, everyone does!

This all started a few months ago when I decided that everyone should love Winterkist as much as I did. Sure I hadn't actually held it in my grubby little mitts yet, but the previews Monica posted on flickr were killing me.  This colourful fabric was going to turn my holiday decorating on it's ear!  I emailed back and forth with Monica and Lecien for a bit, and before I knew what was happening, yards and yards of fabric arrived at my door. EEP!! Let me tell you, there is nothing quite like opening yards and yards of not yet released fabric. Suddenly though, I had some real planning to do. I enlisted several very creative, talented bloggers to showcase this fabric. Over the next 3 weeks you'll see projects of every kind that all prominently feature Winterkist.

So, I'll quit babbling and show you what I've created. It's a 42" square hand quilted quilt. I've posted a few sneak peeks already, but I didn't want to give too much away. I worked long and hard making this quilt.

Gnoma Love

It was my first time using embroidery thread to quilt, and I've got to say, I liked it.

Quilty

Part way through quilting I realized that an embroidered gnoma would be THE BOMB! Ok, I don't ever actually say that, but, you can't argue. This guy is THE BOMB! Yes, you really do need to capitalize every time.

Embroidered Gnoma

There's a needleturned gnoma too! There's almost nothing I love more than invisible hand applique. Seriously, if you can make me think your appliqued fabric is just floating on the surface, I will kiss the ground you walk on! *ahem* moving on.....

Needleturned Gnoma

Everything about my Winterkist quilt makes me happy. At Christmas, this baby will get a place of honour in my dining room. I figure I'll hang it around --- oh I don't know, September? Maybe I'll take it down sometime in March. Or maybe not. It's not *that* Christmassy.

Here's the good news for you! Every weekday for the next three weeks stop by and comment on the participating blogs for your chance to win big! Each Friday, before I go to bed, I'll draw a name from the comments on all 5 of that week's blog hop posts. The winner gets their choice of fat quarter bundles  from the very generous Fat Quarter Shop!

Personally, I think you should pick a Winterkist bundle.....

So, get ready, get set to hop!
