Winterkist Blog Hop

Can I tell you how much I have love love loved the past three weeks of posts during the Winterkist Blog Hop? Do I even need to tell you? The projects shown off by all the bloggers in this hop were fan-freaking-tastic! That one little fabric line can inspire so much love and creativity is just amazing. Thank you to Monica Solorio-Snow for designing this delightful fabric and bringing gnoma claus to us! Lecien USA once again did a beautiful job bringing Monica's fabric to life, and they very generously supplied the blog hop with all the fabric we needed! Fat Quarter Shop came through in a BIG way by sponsoring our blog hop. Their weekly prizes of fat quarter bundles were very hot! There is one more to give away too! Don't forget that I'll be drawing the final winner sometime this evening....

Before wrapping things up, I thought I'd show a couple of the small projects I made with little bits of Winterkist. Sometimes you don't need a huge amount of fabric to show it off to its best advantage, all you need is a bit of stitching! Anyone who has visited my blog a time or two knows that I'm a big lover of handwork and like to embellish with a bit of it wherever I can. Enter the French press cozy.....

004

Yes those are French knots, take a closer look! I adore French knots, both for their simplicity and their ability to dress things up.

003

Since I had a cozy warm press, I needed a mug rug to go with it. Gnoma Claus makes a perfect mug rug!

003

If you look closer you can see how I worked handstitching into his beard!

002

My other little project had no handstitching, but was so much fun to make. I stripped all the selvedges from the Winterkist fabric and made myself a make-up bag. This tiny bag is probably my favourite thing that I've EVER made. If you are attending Sewing Summit, my bag and I will be there, we're inseparable!

Monica Selvage Bag

Look at that row of tiny Gnomas! Yeah, no plain dots on this selvedge!

There's even a sweet surprise when you open it up. A pink Gnoma Claus peeking out at you!

Gnoma Surprise

The back is just as cute as the front.

Selvage Bag Back

Thanks to all the bloggers who participated in the hop and to those that promoted both the blog hop and our wonderful sponsors. Without our generous sponsors, Lecien USA and Fat Quarter Shop, this blog hop wouldn't have been possible.

Thanks to all of you for following along. Winterkist is expected in stores anytime now! I know it's going to be a hot seller, and I can't wait to see what you are all going to make with it.

Now, go forth and sew!

  6. Gosh, these are great projects! I just spent my whole evening making french knots on a wall decoration for a friend's new baby! Just an hour or so longer and it'll be done! I loved all of them, they're so pretty. I think mu favorite is your coffee press cozy and mug rug. I've broken my beaker to my coffee press, so this made me miss it more than ever ... guess I need to get a new one and then make a cozy for it! Well done!!

  13. Your embroidery touches are fantastic. They have really given me some great ideas. If you get a chance could you comment on/ blog about how many strands of floss you used for both the french knots and the outline stitch? They make up bag is adorable. I will have to come up with a use for the little Gnomas in the selvages :)
Now if the fabric would only become available...

  24. I can't thank you and all the participants enough for using my little ole Winterkist for your blog hop and daily dose of inspiration! I didn't want to comment on everyone's blog because I didn't want to interfere with the give-way, so I hope everyone who participated will read this and know how much it all meant to me, and how much I loved what everyone did! My jaw dropped each and every time I was on someone's day! HOLY SMOKES you guys ARE AMAZING!!

Winterkist is a little fish in a big pond, and it means so much to me that you guys used it and showcased it! I also loved seeing Winterkist used with other fabrics. It's like - oh yeah, Gnoma's a playa! And boy did he play well!

I am so grateful to you all. I can't even express into words the joy you all have brought me! THANK YOU!!! XXXXXOOOOO!!!
