WIP Wednesday
It feels like forever since I've worked on a good sized project. Lately I've spent a lot of time working on bee blocks, swaps and hand stitching for The Handmade Parade. This week however, is different. I received the charms from two rainbow charm swaps I participated in earlier this spring and started cutting and sewing right away.
I knew I wanted to make a postage stamp quilt (we'll ignore the fact that traditionally postage stamp quilts use 1" squares). Let's say that 2.5" is the new 1". I was poking around flickr and saw this beautiful rainbow of quilty goodness and had my idea. I didn't want to make the same quilt though, so I decided to make mine in strips rather than squares. Since I was given a surprise day off work today, I'll finish the piecing this morning, probably while watching Twin Peaks.

You can even make my lil' box of 2.5" squares look bad. ;P (Love it, btw)
ReplyDeleteWow, so much rainbow goodness! Looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteI just received squares from my first ever rainbow charm swap, so I'm interested to see how yours turns out! I have no clue what I'm going to do with mine yet, but I signed up for a second one. (When in doubt, collect more squares, right?)
ReplyDeleteWow! So colourful! the colours are perfectly matched! You sure did receive beautiful charms from your swap. I went to look at your inspiration, love it too. How exact do you get your seams lined up...I have so much trouble with that! ;)
ReplyDeletePht, 1 inch... who can be bothered?! Much more efficient this way ;)
ReplyDeletewow! That's going to be one stunning quilt once it's done! Looking forward to seeing it finished!
ReplyDeletegorgeous! I like your ideas of sewing strips first. it's going to be stunning.
ReplyDeleteIt's looking sooooo amazing. I could not imagine working with 1" squares, so I agree with you - 2.5" squares are where it's at!

ReplyDeleteAwesome! I LOVE it! I always enjoy rainbow-y looks in quilts like that. Love the inspiration one, too. And, yeah. I'm pretty sure 2.5" is the new 1". It's how I make my "postage-stamp" quilts, too. Perfect.
ReplyDeletebeautiful! so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love the rainbow strips.
ReplyDeleteI love the way the strips and dangling free like fringe. Blast from the past show - I watched Twin Peaks the first time around and it was pretty quirky for back then.
