Parade Day

With my new work schedule, I never feel like I have time to get anything done. Now if I just felt like I couldn't get any housework or laundry done, I'd be fine, but I feel like I have no time to sew! I'll figure it out soon. I hope.
Early in the week I stitched up a tiny owl for someone whose partner jammed out in the  Wild Olive Stitch Swap. . I know what it's like to have a partner who turns out to be a dud, so when Mollie asked if I'd stitch up a little something, of course I said yes.

Wild Olive Owl

Thursday I went into Vancouver, which means a long ride on the ferry. I always take something to stitch because even though the scenery is beautiful, I still need to work on something. Thankfully it was a beautiful day!  I'm currently working on an embroidered design from Marie Claire Idees which is a French magazine, but like most good magazines, the instructions include enough pictures that you can get by without actually knowing how to read French. If you can read French, like me, all the better! There's a sneak peek in this picture of my project for Sara's Purse Palooza. My day to guest post on Sara's blog is June 15th, you should definitely check it out!

My day

I'm not sure if ever I mentioned that I'm a student in Rachel's Handstitched Camp. I was lucky enough to get in before registration filled up. Today I finished buying the fabrics I'll need to make the class medallion quilt. The need for more fabric was one of my reasons for going to Vancouver. There's a tiny little quilt shop called Spool of Thread that only stocks the most current modern collections, including every Kona solid! I picked up what I needed to go with my original release Freshcut (yes, I've been hoarding it THAT long!) I'm super excited to get started on the class. I hope to connect with lots of other handstitchers!

Now it's your turn to show off your projects!

I just ask a few things of you:
1. link only projects with some handstitching
2. link to a specific post
3. use the linky party button (found in my sidebar) in your post, so others can easily find the party and join in
4. visit other Handmade Parade partiers
.....and go!

  1. You have some of my favorite fabrics in that stack. I used those two Heather Bailey prints in the middle for one of my first ever sewing projects! Love the little owl. Thanks for hosting such a great link up.

  5. Ok...so where do I start? Your owl is adorable and you are THE sweetest to stitch something up for someone who wouldn't get anything if you didn't have the heart to do it. xxxx to you... I can't wait to see what you are doing with your purse and that handstitching!!! :) AND can I steal your stash of fabrics for the camp? Seriously...in love...or maybe you could put a fabric mosaic together for me and I'll just go buy it. Ha!

  7. Oh, love your little owl! And your fabrics for the quilt are so pretty. I have not even thought about fabrics for that quilt yet! Off to go see if I have any handstitching to put up on your linky. I have some ongoing projects, just not sure if I have photos & posts.

  11. I think I have almost all my fabrics. The fabric store is 40 miles away and I have to make a trip out there this week, so I'm holding out until then but hope to get everything then. I love your choices though, similar to my color scheme.
